Description

Active substance - lovastatin, which is a cholesterol-lowering agent isolated from a strain of Aspergillus terreus. Lovastatin: [1S-(1a (R *), Za, 7b, 8b (2S *, 4S *), 8ab] 1,2,3,7,8,8 a-hexahydro-3, 7dimetil-8 [2 - ( tetrahydro)-4-hydroxy-6-oxo-2H-pyran-2-yl]-1-naftalenil 2-metilbutanoat.

Pharmacological action

Hypolipidemic tool - HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor. It reduces cholesterol, triglycerides, lipoproteins and the lipoproteins of very low density in the blood; moderately increases the content of the lipids of high density, which possess anti-atherogenic action.
