Description

Active substance - nicotinic acid: pyridine-3- carbonaceous acid.

Pharmacological action

Nicotinic acid and amide of nicotinic acid is tightly connected with the coenzymes of codehydrase of the I and codehydrase of the II (NAD and NADP), carrying hydrogen and with those achieving oxidation-reduction functions.

Indications for use

Angiospasm; atherosclerosis (is reduced the content of cholesterol in the blood).

Method of application and dose

Are assigned inward on 0.05 g 2-3 times in a 24 hour period, possibly an increase in the dose to 0.1 g of 2-3 times in a 24 hour period. Parenterally they introduce 1%- ache the solution of sodium of nicotinate on 1 ml of 1 2 times in a 24 hour period during 10-15 days.

Side-line action

Reddening of face and upper half of body with the sensation of tingling and burning, vertigo, the flows of the blood to the head; during the prolonged application of large doses the fatty infiltration of the liver is possible.

Contraindications

Increased sensitivity, stomach ulcer and duodenum (in the stage of aggravation), the expressed disturbances of the function of the liver, gout, hyperuricemia, the severe forms of arterial hypertension and atherosclerosis (intravenous). Limitations to the application: pregnancy, lactation.

Form of the release

Powder, tablet on 0.05 g, in the packing of 50 pieces; in the ampules on 1 ml 1%- solution, in the packing of 10 pieces.

Storage

In the protected from the light, dry, cool place of 3 years.

Nicotinic acid is used for treatment of cholelithiasis, atherosclerosis, hypercholesterolemia, biliary tract carcinoma
