Description of the pharmacological group
Medicinal properties
This group of medicines, is included in the metabolism of system aldosterone-angiotensin-renin. It is known that the blockade of the ferment, which converts inactive angiotensin of the I (it is formed from angiotensinogen under the effect of the ferment of renin) into vasoactive angiotensin of the II, is caused the strong contraction of arterial vessels.
The blockade of these it is sectional it leads to a decrease in arterial pressure due to the action of the inhibitors of the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE).
From the group ACE wide application as the medicines obtained Captopril (capoten) and Enap (Enalapril, Vasotec).
Anti-hypertensive action is the general property of these inhibitors of the angiotensin-converting enzyme; they improve also nephritic blood flow, activate the depressor (kinin) systems of organism. Inhibitors are effective not only with arterial hypertension, but also with the stagnant heart insufficiency.
Angiotensin-converting enzyme blockers are used to treat and prevent hypertension, edema crises
